A Justice of the Court of Appeal, Her Ladyship Justice Irene Charity Larbi, has sent a strong warning to male teachers against having sexual relations with school girls, adding that such perpetrators will be dealt with accordingly. She has thus implored heads of schools to keenly monitor teachers who perpetrate such acts and see to it that they are brought to book. In her strongly worded caution to teachers, she said, “they (the girls) are entrusted to your care by their parents with the understanding that you will provide them academic and moral guidance. It is most unethical, not to mention criminal, for this duty of care to be compromised by amorous relationships”. Parliament Approves Amidu As Special Prosecutor

Parliament has approved Martin Amidu as the country’s first Special Prosecutor to tackle corruption cases in the country. Prior to that, Deputy Minority Ranking Member on Constitutional Affairs, Dr. Dominic Ayine, asked Parliament to put the approval on hold, as his suit against Mr. Amidu’s nomination is still pending at the Supreme Court. Drawing on Standing order 93(1), Dr. Ayine invited the Speaker of Parliament to rule on whether the House’s intention to approve the nominee will not be wrong pending the Supreme Court case. But the Speaker of Parliament, Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, ruled against Dr. Ayine’s argument thus paving the way for Amidu’s approval. The Ghana Armed Forces has refuted reports that the soldier who died in the car crash with singer Ebony Reigns, will face a court-martial. Gun Shots Fired In The Northern Region As 4 Sustain Injuries

Four people have been injured in Diisah, a community in the Northern Region after some ‘warriors’ from a neighbouring community, Wasipi, allegedly burnt down the entire community. A resident of Diisah, Bavak John, told Joy News the warriors alleged to be coming from the quarters of a rival chief invaded the community Saturday evening and perpetrated crime.
