The Black Stars suffered another mighty blow in their quest to reach the World Cup in Russia. If the 0-0 stalemate to Uganda was a setback this defeat is a slap in the face. Goals from Mohammed Salah and Abdallah El-Said in each half dented Ghana’s hopes of making it to the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The result leaves the Black Stars five points behind group leaders Egypt with four games to play. Ghanaians, upset with the manner of the loss to the team that the Black Stars beat 7-3 on aggregate to reach the last World Cup, took to social media to vent their spleen. While some took their fury out on the players and head coach Avram Grant, some felt the managers of the team for the dismal start to the qualifying campaign. However, it was not all anger on social media as quite a number of Ghanaians ‘celebrated’ Egypt’s win. Contract Talks: Suarez says Barcelona extension talks ‘moving nicely’

European Golden Shoe winner Luis Suarez said negotiations to extend his contract with Barcelona until 2021 were running smoothly. Malaysian football authorities on Wednesday called on a former FIFA official to provide evidence after he claimed the country had become the hub for match-fixing in Southeast Asia. Chris Eaton, an independent industry consultant and FIFA’s former security chief, said Tuesday that Malaysia had overtaken Singapore in match-fixing following a crackdown in the city-state. Ban Recommendation: Life ban demanded for ex-Honduran president

FIFA’s ethics committee on Wednesday recommended a life ban from all football-related activities for former Honduras president Rafael Callejas, who is awaiting judgement in the United States on kick-back charges. Head of state between 1990-1994, Callejas previously pleaded guilty to racketeering to a New York court in March, and now faces a series of charges from FIFA “In his final report, (FIFA ethics investigator) Cornel Borbely recommended imposing on Mr Callejas a lifelong ban from taking part in any kind of football-related activity,” a FIFA statement said. Ambitious Nigerian Premier League side FC Ifeanyi Ubah have appointed former Hearts of Oak Kenichi Yatsuhashi as their new head coach. The Japanese trainer has replaced Bulgarian Mitko Dobrev who has been re-assigned as Technical Director of the Club. Yaw Preko appointed assistant coach/physical trainer at FC Ifeanyi Ubah

Yaw Preko has been appointed as assistant coach of Nigerian Premier League FC Ifeanyi Ubah where he will be re-uniting with his former boss Kenichi Yatsuhashi. The club confirmed the hiring of the two-who forced a tact team at Ghana Premier League side Hearts of Oak-on Wednesday. Preko will also serve as a Physical trainer of the club.
