Akufo-Addo appoints James Oppong-Boanuh as acting IGP

New acting IGP, James Oppong-Boanuh President Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed Deputy Inspector General Police, James Oppong-Boanuh as the acting IGP following a directive for Mr. David Asante-Appeatu to proceed on leave with immediate effect. Mr. David Asante-Appeatu’s leave is pending his retirement from the Ghana Police Service on Wednesday 14, 2019.   Ghana Police Service says a team of detectives and other experts have interrogated former Ghana Football Association (GFA) boss over the killing of the private investigator, Ahmed Hussein-Suale. The Service said a statement has been taken from Kwasi Nyantakyi as the deceased played a key role in the Number 12 documentary by renowned undercover journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas. The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has commenced investigations into the murder of Ahmed Hussein-Suale, a member of Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ Tiger Eye PI. The journalist, Ahmed Hussein-Suale, was reportedly killed by two gunmen on a motorbike who shot into the car he was driving at Madina in Accra. The Police Service in a statement also asked Ghanaians to volunteer information that will help in apprehending the suspects. Anas, in a message on Facebook, announced the death of his colleague, saying Ahmed was shot three times; twice in the chest and once in the neck following which he died on the spot. The police administration has reshuffled some of its Director Generals and filled the vacant position of Deputy Inspector General of Police (IGP) in the Command Structure. Graphic Online has gathered that the current Director General of Administration, Commissioner of Police (COP), Mr Oppong Boanuh has been appointed as the new Deputy IGP.   The Deputy IGP position which is part of the Police Service Regulations under C.I. 76, has been vacant for many years. The Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Command has appealed to the public to help provide information for the arrest of a driver who fled the scene after a road crash at Taforo near Dormaa-Ahenkro in the Brong-Ahafo Region. Accident Involving Two Buses Kills 10 People At Suhum

A road crash involving two buses at Asuboi, a suburb of Suhum, on Wednesday morning, has claimed 10 lives. The crash occurred on the main Accra Kumasi Highway. Personnel of the National Ambulance service indicated to Citi News that there were 32 survivors from the crash. Some of the survivors are said to be in critical condition. Doctors at the Suhum Government Hospital are making arrangements to refer some of the injured to the Koforidua Regional Hospital. Several lives have been lost through accidents this year.
